DR. SONALI PRASAD

Education:

Dr Sonali's extensive education and training in ophthalmology, including her post-graduation from the prestigious Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi (2019-22), has equipped her with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in her field.
To pursue her interest in corneal diseases, she did her Cornea and Refractive Surgery fellowship from Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya, Chitrakoot (July2022-July2024). Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya is a state-of-the-art Tertiary Eye care Hospital of Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust (SSSST) situated in the rural part of central India Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh. Over the last 40 years, Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya has gained a national and international reputation for its service orientation, modern ophthalmic techniques and community-based outreach activities, performing more than 1,50,000 surgical procedures through its direct and outreach services annually.
Dr. Sonali did her observership at Moorfield Eye Hospital, London (August 2024), aworld leader in higher surgical training for ophthalmologists. For over 200 years, Moorfields Eye Hospital has been a teaching hospital dedicated to ‘curing diseases of the eye’. It is the oldest and one of the world’s largest centres of ophthalmic treatment, teaching, and research.
During her fellowship, she performed multiple full-thickness and lamellar keratoplasties, ocular surface reconstruction, and refractive procedures. She is well-trained in managing dry eye diseases and keratoconus, as well as treating and diagnosing complex corneal disorders. She is equipped with advanced skills in refractive surgery and contact lens workup, ocular surface examination, and eye banking, including tissue evaluation and assessment.
Over time, she developed a special interest in clinical research and has been involved in multiple research projects. She has numerous publications in national and international journals and has also served as a reviewer for reputable journals. She has represented DDEC at national and state-level conferences, and has actively participated in various cultural activities, quizzes, and talent shows.
